This weekend Nate and I finished building my sewing table / craft desk. We already had one of the shelves so we can to buy and assemble the second. I got a great deal on the shelf at Target...it was already on sale and the corner of the box was damaged so I got an additional 30% off. It never hurts to ask! Then, Nate screwed the wood to the tops of the shelves, I added the baskets, and wah la! Done. Now I just need to organize and add the sewing / craft supplies. And find a cheap wooden stool.

love this! Wish I had a craft table. Right now I've taken over my dining room table and it is becoming harder to put everything away when we want to use it!!
ReplyDeleteThat was my fear, that I would get everything set up somewhere around the house and NEVER put it away. Because I already had the 1 shelf, it only cost me $50 to make the rest of the desk. Not bad at all!
ReplyDeleteAnd I already had the baskets, but remember finding those at Target on sale 2 years ago. <3 Target haha
DeleteVery impressed Krista! Cant wait to see what you make.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I still haven't broken in the machine. Not sure where to start!
DeleteIt looks great! I'm so jealous of everyone who has one of these. It's a great work space!
ReplyDeleteThanks! You should make one, this was so cheap anyone could have one.
DeleteLove this. I wish I had room for something like this. I'd love it if you linked up to Furniture Friday http://www.decoratinginsanity.com/2012/05/furniture-friday-16-and-features.html

DeleteTurned out super cute! I saw a model like this on Ana White's Blog but love that you purchased the shelves from Target! Great job!

I'll have to check her blog out. I used to always stray away from poorly packaged items...but the discount was worth it and there wasn't anything wrong with the contents!
DeleteVery impressive and beautiful! I have to organize my craft space. I hope it looks as efficient as yours when completed. :D Thanks for joining the hop.

The best thing about it is you can personalize the table top to whatever color or pattern you'd like. No craft desk is the same!
Deletethat is the perfect craft space! great find on that sale shelf.
ReplyDeleteSometimes you just get lucky!
Deletesuch a great idea... I am using my grandfather's childhood dining table for a sewing table but it has ZERO storage... this would be GREAT!!!
ReplyDeleteIt really turned out better than I had imagined! Months later and I am no where close to filling up the shelves! My husband even uses it... shhh!

Oh girl, I'm already following you ;) Spent a little too much time perusing your blog posts today!
DeleteI've seen plans for building a desk like that from scratch. Your solution is much easier, and looks just as good! Great job. What's on top? Is it painted wood?
ReplyDeleteI'll be featuring this idea on One Creative Weekend at OneCreativeMommy.com tomorrow. Please stop by and grab a featured button if you’d like. I can’t wait to see what you link up this week!
The top is just painted wood. I even got the cabinet grade wood so I didn't have to sand it. Went right to painting.
DeleteAlso, we got a whole sheet and had to cut it down to size. The extra pieces we made into shelves that are now on the wall above it. Will have to post that picture!
Love it!
DeleteThis is such an amazing idea I may just make myself one. Thanks so much for sharing. Ali x
ReplyDeleteSend me a picture if you decide to make one!
